You are invited to a politically engaged dance. Move your body, clap, sing and celebrate freedom, civil disobedience and political struggle in the age of delusion known as a modern democracy. The soundtrack is provided By Bernays Propaganda, a post punk band from Skopje, Macedonia.
“Na to igrisce ne smem” is Bernays Propaganda’s fifth full length vinyl record, made up of previously unreleased tracks, remixes and music for theater. Released by Hamilton, Ontario based Ill in the Head records, it builds up on the sound band has developed on their 2016 release »Politika«. They replaced human rhythm section with a drum machine, took away some of the guitars’ sharp edges and started flirting with electronic new-wave. It recalls the sound of New Order and similar new-wave artists from the early 80s, as well as the sounds of German indietronic in the vein of The Notwist, a band that underwent a similar sound transformation with their album “Neon Golden”.
Nine songs presented on this vinyl record expand on this new found post punk sound, bringing us uncompromising political lyrics, dark moods and a melodic female vocal underpinned by pulsing rhythm dictated by a drum machine.
Bernays Propaganda has been active on the global underground music scene for 10 years. During that period they have released four full length records, numerous singles and EPs, toured USA for six weeks and played every corner of Europe (on average more than 100 concerts annually). Described as dancing post-punk activists, they have become one of the most respected, critically acclaimed and internationally recognized independent music acts from Balkans. This status culminated in their debut album being pronounced the third most important Ex-Yugoslav record from 1991 to 2015” by Croatian edition of The Rolling Stone.
Ill in the Head Records is a Hamilton, Ontario based record label focused on underground music from former Yugoslavia.
